Head of Commercial – Freelance – North Yorkshire

PSR Solutions are excited to be partnered with a key client who is looking for a Head of Commercial–a strategic and commercially driven leader to join their business.

As Head of Commercial, you'll be at the forefront of a flagship industrial project, helping to shape the commercial strategy, drive profitable growth, and ensure robust risk and contract management processes are in place.

What You'll Do

  • Build out, own and lead the commercial function across a major industrial project
  • Develop and implement commercial strategy to drive sustainable growth, improve margins, and manage risk
  • Oversee bids, tenders, and pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and profitability
  • Lead contract negotiations with clients, partners, and suppliers, ensuring legal and commercial alignment
  • Strengthen governance and commercial controls, enhancing forecasting, cost management, and reporting
  • Mentor and develop a high–performing commercial team across both project and business functions
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience in a senior commercial role within energy, infrastructure, industrial services, or engineering
  • Strong background in contract management, including NEC, JCT, or bespoke industrial contracts
  • Demonstrated leadership on large–scale projects, complex service models, or joint ventures
  • Financial and risk management expertise, with a track record of delivering margin growth and operational efficiency
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. Quantity Surveying, Law, Engineering, Finance
