A leading infrastructure firm is seeking a Head of Commercial for a rail project in London or York. This role offers up to £700 per day for an initial 6-month contract with hybrid working. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial and contract management within the railway or construction sectors. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage teams are essential. Candidates must hold or be able to obtain Security Clearance.

Overview

We're looking for a Head of Commercial for our rail client based in London or York on an initial 6-month contract, paying up to £700 per day (Inside IR35).

This role allows hybrid working with an expectation to attend the office 3 days per week. ETCS experience would be an advantage. You will need to either hold current Security Clearance or have the ability to pass it.

Responsibilities
  • The successful Head of Commercial will be functionally responsible for all commercial management activity across the programme, developing and implementing robust commercial and procurement strategies to ensure effective cost control, supplier engagement, and contract compliance.
  • Development and delivery of Commercial and Procurement Strategies
  • Contract management, dispute resolution, and compliance with the Procurement Act
  • Cost management, financial reporting, and investment regulation compliance
  • Post-contract management and risk mitigation
  • Railway and/or construction industry contract management experience
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Experienced staff manager and team leader with proven coaching ability
  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) with a relevant professional qualification
Desirable
  • Experience reviewing contractor interim and final accounts
  • Knowledge of railway commercial contract management and estimating
  • ETCS experience
