Job summary

Kirklees Museums and Galleries in Huddersfield seeks a senior curator to lead the curatorial team across multiple sites. You will guide collections care, documentation, digitisation and public engagement, helping to shape a new museum and gallery as part of Our Cultural Heart.

You will work with staff, communities and national partners to deliver sector-leading content, and drive strategic leadership and service excellence during a period of change.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead and inspire teams through change in museum, gallery or heritage settings.
• Extensive management experience in collections care, curatorial and exhibition practice.
• Experience with documentation standards, digitisation and developing collections management systems.
• Strong project management, commissioning, budgeting and resource management skills.
• Excellent communication with staff, communities, partners, donors and funders.

Responsibilities

• Manage and inspire the curatorial team, directing professional collections guidance and supporting technical colleagues.
• Maintain high standards of collections care, display, access and safe working across sites.
• Lead on inclusive curatorial practice and digital access to deepen audience connections and reflect diverse Kirklees stories.
