Oakleaf Partnership are working with one of the UK’s leading transport providers who are seeking a Head of Colleague Engagement and Experience to join their business. This role plays a pivotal part in creating a connected, inclusive, and purpose-driven culture that supports our ambition to be a truly people-centric organisation. This is an incredibly exciting and unique opportunity for the business that requires someone who is a real specialist in this area. The role offers flexibility with remote working but requires regular travel to various sites in the UK.

What is the role?

With a focus on innovation, insight, and strategic influence, the role leads the development of engagement frameworks, recognition strategies, and cultural initiatives that resonate from frontline colleagues to executive leadership. Reporting to the Director of Colleague Experience and Internal Communications, the postholder will build strong partnerships across the business to shape a consistent and values-led employee experience that enhances retention, performance, and brand reputation.
This role is not about day-to-day delivery-it is about driving the why, what, and where next of our engagement agenda.

You are a visionary and strategic leader with a deep passion for cultivating inclusive, values-driven workplace cultures that inspire, engage, and empower people across complex, multi-site organisations. You will bring a wealth of experience leading colleague engagement, culture, and experience strategies in dynamic, large-scale environments.

* Strategic Leadership: Proven track record of designing and executing culture and engagement strategies that influence executive decision-making and drive high-impact organisational outcomes.
* Data-Driven Decision Making: Expert in engagement analytics-leveraging data and insights to shape cultural initiatives, measure success, and continuously improve colleague experience.
* Stakeholder Influence: Strong leadership presence and excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coach, challenge, and build trust with leaders at all levels of the organisation.
* Culture Transformation: Demonstrated success in building inclusive, high-performance cultures that reflect organisational values and drive employee advocacy and retention.
* Technology Fluency: Proficient in engagement platforms, recognition tools, survey systems, and large-scale cultural change programmes to elevate the employee journey.
* Inspirational Communication: An engaging communicator and storyteller who can align hearts and minds through clear, compelling messaging and confident delivery.
