Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset is seeking a Head of Clinical Coding Operations to lead the Trust's Clinical Coding service across inpatient, outpatient and emergency activity. You will shape strategy, drive improvements and partner with clinical, finance and digital teams.

The role requires extensive NHS coding leadership, a NCCQ, and a track record of service transformation, including AI-enabled approaches. Hybrid working and a £6,000 attraction incentive are offered.

Qualifications

• National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) is required.
• Ongoing Continuing Professional Development in clinical coding is expected.
• Postgraduate leadership/management training is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior operational leadership for Clinical Coding across the Trust.
• Lead workforce planning and staff development to build a high-performing team.
• Drive improvements in coding quality, productivity and timeliness; reduce backlog.
