Qualifications

  • Track record of success in Civil Engineering projects.
  • Member of the Institute of Civil Engineering is desirable.
  • IEng/CEng accreditation is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee technical delivery and growth of Civil Engineering activities.
  • Drive sales growth and develop sustainable project portfolio.
  • Collaborate with HR to develop career pathways for engineering staff.

Skills

Employment type: Full Time, 6-month initial contract with a view to going permanent
Salary: Open to discussion depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

About the role

The Head of Civil Engineering is responsible for the growth and technical delivery of Civil Engineering activities within the Infrastructure Division (Telecoms).

Driving sales growth and technical expertise to develop our offering, providing leading quality service that achieves our financial targets.

The role holder will ensure the competence of the Engineering resource and will lead the development of the career pathway and competence framework with HR for the function. Working collaboratively with the Directors, Operations and Contract & Project Managers across the division to ensure the provision of Civil Engineering resource supports (in sourced or outsourced) the delivery of their P&L targets

As a Head of Civils you will

Responsible for the technical oversight and growth of the Civil Engineering function within the Infrastructure Division (Telecoms).

  • Responsible for winning work and growing a sustainable portfolio of projects to ensure the teams productivity and profitability.
  • To support the Operational & Project managers in the delivery of their sub P&L performance against targets.
  • To contribute to the exploration of a pan divisional Civil Engineering function across Ipsum group.
  • To support M&A activities in identifying suitable target companies that match the required profile.
  • To develop a sustainable growth strategy for Civil Engineering works (both insourced and outsourced) for the division.
  • To assist HR in the development of the Civil Engineering career pathway and framework competences.
  • To monitor and report on performance KPIs to show achievement of the strategic aims and objectives.
  • To grow and sustain an active pipeline of opportunities.
About you

Degree or equivalent experience with a strong track record of success
Member of the Institute of Civil Engineering (desired)
IEng/CEng accreditation (desired)
Experienced in the delivery of Civil Engineering projects (Telecoms).
Knowledge of CDM regulations and duties.
Knowledge of industry best practice in the technical discipline.
Strong Safety performance background.
Sound understanding of the application of Civil Engineering in the Infrastructure sectors (Telecoms).
