Job summary

Teaching Vacancies is seeking a Head of Chemistry for Cove School in Hampshire. You will oversee planning, delivery and quality of Chemistry teaching across the department, supporting non-specialist teachers and driving curriculum development.

You will work with the Head of Science, manage resources, organise trips, and engage pupils from year 7 to year 11 while safeguarding and promoting welfare. Excellent communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in a related subject and teaching qualification
• Knowledge of KS3- GCSE curriculum
• Ability to teach across Year 7–11 and lead a department
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, delivery and quality of Chemistry teaching across the department
• Support strategic development and curriculum planning with the Head of Science
• Ensure high-quality teaching resources
• Support non-specialist teachers and trainee teachers
• Provide regular updates on progress and pupil outcomes
• Organise educational trips and enrichment activities for Chemistry
• Teach across the full age range (Year 7–11) and contribute to department administration
