Head of Business, Economics and IT
Permanent £35,000 - £48,500 per annum Full-time (37 hours per week)
Location: Ofsted-rated 'Good' Sixth Form College in Surrey
Closing Date: 13th June 2025

Are you an experienced educational leader with a passion for Business, Economics, and IT? This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and shape a thriving curriculum area at an Ofsted-rated Good Sixth Form College in Surrey. The college has a strong track record of student achievement and offers a supportive environment where both staff and students excel.

The Role:
As Head of Department, you will drive curriculum development, foster innovation, and promote the highest standards of teaching and learning. You ll play a key role in enhancing student retention and achievement, supporting and developing staff, and contributing to the overall success of the Sixth Form provision. You will also have a teaching commitment of up to 13.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Business, Economics, and IT team, ensuring delivery of high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to improve learner outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.
  • Develop schemes of work that support individualised learning.
  • Monitor student progress and implement effective support strategies.
  • Oversee staff development and performance management.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources.
  • Build effective partnerships with local schools and stakeholders.

What We re Looking For:

  • Degree-qualified with a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Proven leadership experience within Business and/or Economics at A-level and Level 3 vocational courses.
  • Successful track record of improving student outcomes.
  • Experience of managing and developing staff and leading quality improvements.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of current curriculum developments and quality assurance within the Sixth Form/FE sector.
  • Experience of managing departmental resources and budgets.
