Job description
Overview

We are on the lookout for a Chartered Head of Building Surveying to join our friendly, professional and highly successful team.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring property condition surveys and fire doors surveys are completed to the highest standard, on time, and within budget. You'll also help grow the business by identifying new work opportunities, preparing tenders, and developing strong relationships across the industry.

You will need to have proven delivery experience and demonstrate that you work to a high standard. Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Overseeing and leading the team of stock condition surveyors and administration resource
  • Work winning, looking for new growth opportunities and leading the preparation and submission of bids for new commissions
  • Ensuring development and maintenance of strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders through ensuring outstanding service delivery
  • Providing input into development of business processes and procedures
  • Taking personal responsibility for your compliance with quality, health, safety and environmental standards
  • Responsible for ensuring work performed by you and your team is performed to a highly professional standard, checking work quality and ensuring a high standard of accuracy
  • Quality checking of completed surveys and associated reports
  • Preparation, delivery and presentation of professional reports to the clients, and providing professional advice, guidance and opinion
  • Interfacing with the client, leaseholders, contractors and other consultants
  • Experience of cost estimating and budgeting of repair and maintenance requirements identified from surveys, using NHF Schedule of Rates, benchmark rates, or similar
  • Managing and leading condition surveying team, providing direction, guidance and support as appropriate
  • Recruitment of stock condition surveyors to meet workload requirements
Knowledge, skills & experience
  • MRICS in Building Surveying
  • A recognised degree qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent
  • Client focused with ability to develop long term relationships
  • Depth of experience in the profession, particularly in housing stock condition surveys
  • Strong technical grounding in the core areas of Building Surveying
  • Experience in performing the role of Senior Building Surveyor and acting as commission lead from inception through to completion
  • Proficient knowledge of compliance with industry standards
  • Damp & mould survey experience
  • HHSRS Cat 1 & 2 knowledge essential
  • Fire Door Assessor qualified desirable
  • Ability to analyse, test and challenge data to ensure accuracy of results (programme, cost and quality)
  • Ability to analyse and interpret condition data
  • Confident and proficient in the use of MS Excel and MS Word
  • Confident and proficient in the use of asset condition reporting software
  • Programme and budget management of business stream
Role details
  • Based out of our Reading office, with travel to project locations throughout the UK as necessary
