Job description

We have an opportunity for an experienced building safety professional to join us as Head of Building Safety Remediations. You'll be based from our head office in Basingstoke, combining office and home working to ensure a positive work/life balance.

What you'll be doing

Reporting into the Assistant Director - Building Safety Remediation, you'll develop and manage the design, building pathology and fire investigations of SNG's existing building portfolio. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading on all operational elements of building safety across SNG's high rise residential asset portfolio.
  • Writing the brief for design, building pathology and fire engineering investigations on existing buildings and to procure consultants to carry out the investigations.
  • Attaining advice on interim fire strategies agreed because of a change in the fire strategy as well as supporting the customer management team to manage interim fire strategies.
  • Ensuring the monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of the building safety activities within SNG.
  • Leading and coaching the Building Safety team with a focus on articulating a clear vision, providing direction, and fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.

What we need from you

You'll have a thorough understanding of the Building Regulations and Fire Safety Regulations in residential buildings, together with evidence of managing complex building investigations and programmes of remedial works in existing buildings with residents in occupation. You'll also:

  • Hold a professional Qualification or equivalent commercial /construction experience (Chartered member – CIOB/RICS)
  • Have a thorough understanding of the Building Regulations and Fire Safety Regulations in residential buildings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and persuade senior and executive management.
  • Be analytical and experienced with report writing for executive management.
