About the Role

Zego’s vision is of a future where insurance has been transformed by technology, and where everyone across the world has access to personalised policies that reward them for better behaviour. We are at a pivotal and exciting moment in our journey and you would be joining at a point of inflection as we turn our attention to hitting consistent monthly profitability. It will be a period of exponential growth as we expand our footprint into consumer car insurance and grow our presence in the consumer van market.

We are seeking a Head of Brand, PR, and Communications to lead our efforts in building brand awareness, executing a robust PR strategy, and championing Zego’s story. You will be our Brand evangelist, ready to excite our employees, investors and customers with our ambitions and values. We need passion, ambition and tenacity for this role as it is critical in supporting our ambitious growth plan.

As a key member of the Marketing team, you will report directly to the Marketing Director, work closely with the C-suite on strategic PR initiatives, and lead a talented team of five. You will be both a visionary and a doer - entrepreneurial, scrappy, and willing to roll up your sleeves to deliver results in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Strategy and Awareness (70% of the role)

  • Develop and execute a brand strategy to significantly grow awareness of Zego across consumer car and van markets, effectively managing the existing budget while building a case for increased investment where needed to support growth objectives.
  • Position Zego as a leading, innovative insurtech brand in the minds of customers, investors and our own employees.
  • Act as a brand evangelist, effectively communicating the value of brand-building initiatives to the C-suite and ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Oversee all brand touchpoints to ensure consistency and excellence, working closely with the in-house design and content teams.
  • Develop and execute a content strategy across all key platforms to grow brand awareness and drive sales.

Public Relations and Communications (30% of the role)

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers.
  • Alongside our in-house copy writer, our founder Sten and Chief of Staff, craft compelling narratives, thought leadership and press releases that highlight Zego’s innovation, growth, and leadership in the insurtech space.
  • Support crisis communications and act as a trusted advisor to the C-suite for external messaging.
  • Lead the research, preparation, and submission of industry award entries to elevate Zego’s profile, showcase key achievements, and support brand positioning.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of five, including a senior in-house designer, senior content manager, content manager, senior copywriter, and senior SEO manager.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture that encourages creativity, innovation, and accountability.
  • Mentor and develop team members to achieve their full potential, aligning their work with Zego’s overarching goals.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with the Marketing Director and other departments, including Product, Sales, Tech and Customer Success, to ensure the brand and comms strategy is integrated and impactful.
  • Partner with external agencies and consultants as needed to scale efforts efficiently.
  • Advocate for and secure investment in brand-building activities by presenting clear, data-driven insights and outcomes to senior leadership.

  • Create and manage a full PR schedule to support Zego’s Series D fundraise, ensuring positive media coverage and positioning the company as a thought leader.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers.
  • Craft compelling narratives, press releases, and media kits that highlight Zego’s innovation, growth, and leadership in the insurtech space.
  • Support crisis communications and act as a trusted advisor to the C-suite for external messaging.

About You

  • Proven experience in brand management, PR, and communications, ideally within a high-growth tech, insurtech, or fintech environment.
  • Strong track record of building and executing successful brand and PR campaigns that drive measurable awareness and engagement.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills, able to distill complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a scrappy, hands-on approach to getting things done in a resource-constrained environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, particularly at the C-suite level, and secure buy-in for brand initiatives.
  • Experience managing and developing creative teams, with a strong understanding of content, design, and SEO best practices.
  • Familiarity with the insurance or mobility sectors is a plus
  • You will be someone who’s actively curious about how AI can enhance your work - keen to experiment, learn quickly, and apply tools that improve productivity, streamline tasks, or unlock new ways of thinking.
