From £59,795 + £4,750 Flex Allowance + Up to 20% Bonus + Benefits

The Opportunity:

Are you our next Engineering Manager – Baggage? We are looking for someone who can help us redefine what's possible for our Engineering team.

What's the role?

The core purpose of this role is to deliver a safe, efficient, and resilient Baggage System—one that manages a major flow within the Airport (the others being aircraft and passengers). This involves full accountability for the Baggage Systems to ensure high safety, reliability, and availability of Gatwick's critical infrastructure.

The role requires strong leadership of the maintenance team and effective management of third parties and stakeholders.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead and develop the Baggage Engineering team of highly skilled Technicians to deliver maintenance plans.
  • Ensure optimal performance of Baggage assets, including performance improvements to enhance system availability against OBP / CSS metrics.
  • Drive EH&S culture across all teams to reduce incidents and promote a safe working environment.
  • Produce effective communication and reports for stakeholders such as GAL teams, Airlines, and handling agents to enable smooth operation.
  • Manage costs and contracts to ensure operational budgets are met.
Do you have what we're looking for?
  • Educated to degree level in an engineering discipline preferred; HND level with significant experience accepted.
  • Proven proactive leadership promoting health and safety culture, ensuring processes protect employees and contractors.
  • Experience leading, managing, and developing baggage teams to deliver strategic priorities.
  • Ability to ensure system performance meets and exceeds OBP and CSS measures.
  • Experience leading failure investigations related to baggage systems and operational impacts.
