Global Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance to management and the risk and audit committees regarding the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes as designed and represented by management.

The primary role of GIA is to help the Board and Executive Management protect the assets, reputation, and sustainability of HSBC Group. GIA offers independent assurance over the design and operating effectiveness of the Group’s risk management, control, and governance frameworks. It is staffed by a diverse team of global professionals with specialized skills.

We are seeking a high-caliber professional to join us as a Head of Audit - Retail Credit Risk and Analytics. In this role, you will oversee and manage the global retail credit risk audit portfolio and provide critical assessments of HSBC’s governance, risk, and control frameworks related to Retail Credit Risk.

In this role, you will:

1. Audit Entity Risk Assessments, maintain the Audit Universe, and prepare and deliver the Annual Audit Plan within expected timeframes, standards, methodology, budget, and best practices.
2. Maintain a detailed understanding of macroeconomic, portfolio, regulatory requirements, and control environments to dynamically assess monitoring and audit needs. Analyze key drivers of change and their impact on GIA’s engagements.
3. Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Represent GIA in governance forums, including preparing and presenting audit reports.
4. Demonstrate strong expertise in Retail Business, Functional, and Regulatory environments (e.g., PRA, CRR, EBA, Basel 3.1), including developing trends, risks, controls, and expectations.
5. Develop data analysis tools and techniques to provide assurance over controls.
6. Support a strong risk and conduct culture across the Group, promoting awareness and sound decision-making.
7. Participate in governance forums (e.g., Risk & Audit Committee, Risk Management Meeting, Boards, Impairment Committees).
8. Deliver audit assignments, including continuous monitoring and risk assessments, providing constructive challenge and value-added engagement with stakeholders.
9. Communicate effectively with Senior Management on major plans, projects, industry trends, and maintain relationships with external auditors and regulators.

To be successful, you should:

• Have strong experience in Retail Credit Risk, preferably with experience across lines of defense. Consultancy and external audit experience are also considered. Strong technical credit skills are essential for designing and implementing innovative audit solutions.
• Have a solid understanding of retail credit products and regulatory requirements related to Retail Credit Risk, including policies on underwriting, lending, collections, recoveries, stress testing, IFRS9 Expected Credit Loss, risk appetite frameworks, and models.
• Possess accounting, audit, analytical, financial, project management, quantitative, risk, and technology skills.
• Be an analytical and critical thinker capable of managing competing priorities and complex challenges.
• Be able to communicate effectively to diverse audiences and willing to travel.

The role's base location is UK Nationwide with a hybrid working pattern.
