Job description

Are you an experienced asset management leader with a background in housing associations or local authority housing? Ready to take ownership of a growing housing portfolio and drive real social impact?

We are recruiting for an Interim Head of Asset Management to join a forward-thinking organisation that partners with local government to deliver quality homes and invest in the community. With over 600 residential properties and ambitious growth plans, this is a strategic leadership role with hands-on delivery at its core.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead asset management strategy across a diverse residential portfolio
  • Oversee acquisitions – assess business cases, negotiate terms, and manage legal process
  • Manage repairs & maintenance contracts to drive value and performance
  • Deliver compliance programmes and ensure adherence to regulatory standards
  • Monitor asset performance and develop plans for renovation and value enhancement
  • Report to senior leadership and the board on KPIs, risk, and portfolio health
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and residents

Ideal Candidate

  • Senior experience in social housing, local authority, or housing association environments
  • Proven leadership of asset teams and responsibility for 500+ residential units
  • Strong knowledge of compliance, property regulations, and repairs contracts
  • Commercial acumen to oversee acquisitions and assess investment risk
  • Excellent stakeholder management, including residents and third-party contractors
  • Degree or equivalent, ideally with a professional qualification (RICS, CIH, etc.)

Contract Details

  • Daily rate: Up to £550/day (Inside IR35)
  • Location: West London (hybrid working options may be considered)
  • Duration: Initial 6-month contract with potential extension
