Role responsibilities

The Head of Asset Management (Infrastructure) will lead the Asset Ownership and Management for all of Transport for Wales (TfW) Owned Assets.

  • Provide direction on ensuring TfW meets legal, regulatory, contractual, and other requirements as Infrastructure Owner by liaising with legal and regulatory bodies and internal compliance teams to develop compliance strategies, maintaining up to date policies and coordinate with relevant bodies.
  • Lead and manage the Core Valley Lines (CVL) Infrastructure Manager contract with support from the TfW commercial and contractual team in ensuring effective monitoring and oversight of infrastructure management services and performance.
  • Lead and manage operations, maintenance, and renewal of Non-CVL assets in developing prioritised engineering and asset management plans and establish supply chain requirements.
  • Accountable for developing, managing, and overseeing the budget for TfW Infrastructure asset management by working with the TfW finance and asset management teams to submit and develop Operations, Maintenance and Renewals plans for a rolling 5 year period and ensure financial resources are allocated efficiently and align with strategic objectives.
  • Develop and deliver asset knowledge and data strategies to drive innovation using data by liaising with data and IT specialists to set out the strategy, plans and outputs to deliver operational efficiency.

Who we’re looking for

  • Chartered professional membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing safety critical infrastructure in an asset rich, regulated environment
  • Experience of managing significant budgets in a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrable record of good asset and information management practices that are required to support the safe, efficient and effective delivery of a reliable and well performing rail service.
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging and developing effective working relationships with a range of internal and external customers and stakeholders, including regulators.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
