Job summary

Wishford Schools is seeking a dynamic Head of Art for Hatherop Castle School, Cirencester. The role involves leading the Art department, promoting creative arts across the school, and shaping the curriculum from Nursery to Year 8 in a specialist facility.

It is suitable for an experienced Head of Art or an aspiring leader, including NQTs seeking leadership experience. The position is part time (24 hours/week), starting September 2026, with a salary (£32,000–£42,000) depending on experience.

Qualifications

Head of Art
OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Head of Art to join our staff team at Hatherop Castle School.

Art plays a significant part in the broad and balanced curriculum we offer and we are looking for a skilled, passionate and forward thinking teacher to lead the department and promote the creative arts across the whole school. The role would suit an experienced Head of Art or a teacher who is looking to step into a leadership role or a NQT who is looking to join a busy, dynamic school and gain valuable experience. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of art education, excellent communication skills, and a passion for inspiring our pupils.

The successful candidate must be willing to work as part of a team and be prepared to promote the subject with staff, parents and pupils. This is an exciting opportunity as there is plenty of scope to develop the department further.

Art is taught throughout the school from Nursery through to Year 8 in a specialist facility.

Hours, Salary & Benefits:

Position: Part Time, 24 hours per week. (3 days, could be 4 days if the candidate is able to offer other subjects)

Salary: £32,000.00 to £42,000.00 subject to experience
