We're seeking an AI Research and Development Lead to drive innovation for Kraken's AI solutions. You will lead R&D initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and influence the growth of our AI products. Your work will directly contribute to advancing our mission by harnessing AI to accelerate the transition to renewable energy.

What you'll do

• Develop and execute a research and development strategy aligned with company goals.
• Guide the R&D of new AI algorithms and systems for energy applications like support, coding, trading, maintenance, and optimization.
• Design scalable test environments, benchmarking, and evaluation frameworks to optimize AI performance.
• Champion best practices in data collection, cleaning, enrichment, and governance.
• Identify and design AI tools to improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.
• Mentor multidisciplinary teams of engineers and data scientists.
• Stay abreast of emerging AI trends and explore their applications in energy systems.
• Transform research into production-ready AI solutions through collaboration with engineering teams.
• Drive thought leadership through publications and industry engagement.

What you'll need

• PhD in computer science, ML, AI, or equivalent experience.
• Expertise in large-scale models, AI agent orchestration, benchmarking, and deployment.
• Proven experience in AI research and leading complex projects.
• Experience with data enrichment and knowledge base development.
• Proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Jax, and programming languages like Python, R, Java.
• Preferred: publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
• Preferred: experience in the energy sector.
