Job description

Brunswick is on a transformative journey to integrate AI and data science into its operations, enhancing the advice we deliver to clients globally. We are now seeking a forward-thinking leader to spearhead these initiatives, driving our vision of leveraging AI as a key differentiator in both our external client offerings and internal processes.

This role presents an exceptional opportunity for someone passionate about the intersection of AI, innovation, and corporate advisory – working closely with the CEO and Strategy Director.

The Role

As Head of the AI Lab, you will lead all internal AI programs and workstreams across the firm, managing a small, but growing team of AI engineers and working closely with senior leadership. This role offers a blend of strategic thinking, technical acumen, and leadership, ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, thrives on collaboration, and is excited by the opportunity to harness AI to shape the future of Brunswick. You will be the driving force behind the roadmap, adoption, and scaling of AI-powered tools and solutions firmwide.

Reports to: Director, Group Strategy.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Champion AI initiatives across the firm, driving innovation in how AI is leveraged to improve both internal operations and client outcomes.
  2. Lead the internal AI team, guiding them through the development and scaling of proprietary AI tools to enhance both commercial and operational performance.
  3. Product leadership – strategically manage the AI roadmap, from refining existing solutions to identifying, prioritizing, and launching the next generation of AI use cases.
  4. Serve as an AI advocate, engaging with internal stakeholders to assess needs, identify opportunities, provide guidance, and ensure seamless integration of AI tools.
  5. Oversee the adoption of AI-driven tools (both proprietary and third-party) and promote AI literacy and competence across all teams and levels.
  6. Procure and implement cutting-edge AI tools, continuously seeking out innovative technologies that support Brunswick’s strategic objectives.
  7. Collaborate closely with IT security and other departments to mitigate AI-related risks while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  8. Stay at the forefront of AI advancements, bringing insights back to the team and ensuring Brunswick remains a leader in AI application within the corporate advisory space.
What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate is a dynamic, highly motivated individual who combines strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically, inspire teams and influence senior leadership.

This person will have a deep understanding of AI technologies, experience in a global corporate environment, and the ability to translate complex ideas into practical, impactful solutions.

Candidates need to have:

  • Proven experience in leading AI or innovation programs within a corporate environment.
  • Deep expertise in generative AI and familiarity with the broader AI landscape.
  • 10+ years of relevant post-university experience, with a strong track record of success in product management, innovation, AI or data science roles across global organisations.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience and interact with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving matrix environment, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in professional services or advisory firms is a plus.
  • A network of industry contacts in AI, technology, product, and data science to leverage for insights, partnerships, and collaboration.
  • Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT and other advanced, off-the-shelf AI solutions.
  • A conceptual understanding of programming languages (e.g., Python) for effective communication with technical teams (although no coding experience is necessary).
  • Familiarity with technical development processes, especially within Microsoft Azure, would be a plus, even if coding is not required.
  • A strong academic background and a distinguished career to date.
