About Us

Your Role
Service Line: Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and Male Acute Mental Health.
Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton is our new state-of-the-art PICU & Acute hospital for men, in the West Midlands. The service features two wards: a 12 bed PICU ward and a 17 bed Acute ward. Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton has a full multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and supports the acute needs of adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including those who may need an intensive care environment.

At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical Leads and our Occupational Therapy Directors. Our Occupational Therapy Service is responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction, through the use of purposeful and meaningful activities. We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous clinician. You will hold supervisory responsibility for others and take a leadership role in specific projects. This role includes opportunities for learning, development, and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOT’s Career Development Framework.

Occupational Therapy Directorate
Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors, we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and over 300 OT support staff. Working together as a large team, we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups and become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence-based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathways. We ensure our occupational therapy team members have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
