Job description

We are looking for a confident and passionate RVN to join us as Head Veterinary Nurse at B&W Equine Hospital in Breadstone!

B&W Equine Hospital is one of Europe's most advanced diagnostic and surgical centres, offering the highest level of specialist equine care. It is the largest equine hospital in the South West, staffed by veterinary surgeons who are specialists in surgery, orthopaedics, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, and sports medicine & rehabilitation. The hospital features cutting-edge facilities including a dedicated neonatal ICU, isolation facilities, scintigraphy, standing and GA CT, and low field MRI. It has excellent communication links, being only 15 minutes from junctions 13 and 14 of the M5.

As our Head Nurse, you will lead from the front, actively involved in managing and training our large nursing team. We seek someone proactive, with a good sense of humour, a forward-thinking approach, and the ability to prioritize workload and engage regularly with your team.

You should have significant equine nursing experience in a hospital environment, and previous leadership experience as a team leader, deputy, or head nurse is preferred.

This role is 40 hours per week, involving some night and weekend out-of-hours work on an excellent rota.
