Vacancy at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head, Neck and Thyroid Cancer Oncology Support Worker at ESNEFT, working at Colchester hospital with occasional home working.

This role involves working within a supportive team environment to make a positive impact on patients with cancer and their families.

You should have effective communication skills to support patients emotionally and practically, ensuring access to information and support for a personalized care experience.

Responsibilities include supporting the Thyroid PCFU programme, general administration, and oversight of the Head and Neck Clinical Nurse Specialists.

IT and literacy skills are essential for recording confidential information on various computer databases.

Purpose of Role:
  • To work as an integral part of the Head and Neck/Thyroid team and as coordinator for the Patient Centred Follow Up (PCFU) service.
  • To provide administrative support to the Head and Neck CNS team and the wider MDT.
  • To facilitate communication between hospital, patients, and GPs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Centred Follow Up Service
  • Book, amend, and reconcile appointments using Microsoft Outlook and trust systems, liaising with patients as needed.
  • Maintain the Somerset Remote Monitoring System, including tracking attendance and outcomes of PCFU appointments and following up with non-attending patients.
  • Monitor investigations via hospital systems and ensure timely communication of results to patients.
  • Identify patients requiring follow-up investigations and manage them according to Thyroid PCFU protocols.
