We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Head Housekeeper / Cleaning Supervisor who has extensive housekeeping / cleaning / room attendant experience and proven supervisory / leadership / staff management skills.

Working as the Head Housekeeper / Cleaning Supervisor you will ensure that the hotel's cleanliness standards are consistently maintained and that the team is managed effectively to provide an exceptional guest experience.

As the Head Housekeeper / Cleaning Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing the housekeeping department, ensuring that all guest rooms and public areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort, and service.

This role involves supervising housekeeping staff, managing inventory, coordinating schedules, and handling administrative tasks, all while maintaining a positive and efficient work environment.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as Head Housekeeper / Cleaning Supervisor will include:

• Supervise and manage a team of housekeepers and room attendants

• Assign daily tasks, inspect work, and ensure adherence to cleaning standards

• Conduct training for new staff and ongoing training for current staff to ensure they are up-to-date on procedures and hotel policies

• Ensure all guest rooms, bathrooms, and public spaces are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard

• Conduct routine inspections of rooms, common areas, and back-of-house facilities to ensure cleanliness and safety

• Address guest feedback regarding cleanliness or housekeeping issues promptly and effectively

• Oversee inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, guest amenities, and housekeeping equipment

• Order cleaning products, linens, and supplies as needed and manage the department's budget

• Create and manage housekeeping schedules to ensure proper staffing levels, especially during high-traffic times (e.g., check-in/check-out periods, busy seasons)

• Monitor staff attendance and address any absenteeism or performance issues

• Work closely with front desk, maintenance, and management to address guest needs and ensure smooth operations

• Handle special guest requests, such as extra linens or specific room preferences

• Respond to and resolve guest complaints or concerns related to cleanliness or housekeeping

• Ensure housekeeping staff follow health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment

• Implement and enforce health and safety protocols, particularly related to the handling of cleaning products, laundry, and guestroom sanitization

• Monitor the housekeeping department’s budget

• Review and manage payroll, tracking overtime and adjusting staffing levels as necessary

• Maintain records for housekeeping activities, inventory usage, staff performance, and department budgets

• Prepare reports on departmental performance and guest satisfaction, providing recommendations for improvements

• Resolve conflicts, provide constructive feedback, and encourage employee growth and development

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Extensive experience in housekeeping, with proven experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a hotel or large hospitality setting

• Proven experience in leading, motivating, and managing a team

• Excellent organisational, time management, and multitasking abilities

• High standard of cleanliness and attention to detail in all tasks

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deal with guest concerns professionally and efficiently

• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills to address staff or guest issues promptly

• Energetic, enthusiastic and motivated to lead by example
