Job summary

Highwood Care Home is a brand new, purpose-built facility in the historic port town of Bideford. We offer Residential, Dementia, Nursing and Respite care for up to 67 residents, with state-of-the-art facilities.

We are looking for a Head Housekeeper to take overall responsibility for cleanliness, presentation and organisation of the home, leading the housekeeping team and ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety and service at all times.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a housekeeping or supervisory role.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the housekeeping team, overseeing cleaning of residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas.
• Coordinate daily operations to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and in line with infection control and health and safety procedures.
• Monitor quality, manage supplies and provide training and leadership to the team.
• Ensure a safe, welcoming environment and oversee weekend supervision (alternate weekends).

Head Housekeeper Contract

• £13.71 per hour
• Contracted to 36 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Head Housekeeper, you will take overall responsibility for the cleanliness, presentation and organisation of the home, ensuring a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment is maintained at all times. This is a key leadership role where your standards and attention to detail will directly impact daily life and overall experience.

You will lead and manage the housekeeping team, overseeing the cleaning of residents' rooms, bathrooms and all communal areas to ensure consistently high standards of hygiene and presentation. You will coordinate daily operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and in line with infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures.

Working closely with other departments, you will ensure a well organized and responsive service. You will monitor quality, manage supplies and support your team through training, guidance and leadership, creating a positive and high performing environment.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
