Head Gardener

Location: Stone and Woodseaves, Staffordshire

Are you an experienced horticulturist with a passion for creating and maintaining beautiful gardens?

Due to retirement, our client wishes to recruit an experienced and passionate Joint Head Gardener to manage and maintain the large gardens of two private homes near Stone (13 acres) and Woodseaves (9 acres).

Head Gardener - Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance and development of two large private gardens, splitting time between both
2. Care and management of herbaceous borders
3. Lawn and grass care, including operation of ride-on and pedestrian mowers
4. Strimming and hedge cutting
5. Pruning of trees and shrubs at the correct time of year
6. Ensure the health and vitality of all plant life through effective pest and disease control measures

Head Gardener - Candidate:

1. A passion for horticulture with experience gained within a similar role, preferably within a large private estate or public garden
2. In-depth knowledge of plants, garden design, and maintenance techniques
3. Level 2 in ground-based chainsaw operations, maintenance, cross-cutting, and felling (CS30/31) essential
4. Application of weed sprays (PA6A, PA6A W) certification highly desirable
5. The ability to work independently and as part of a team
6. Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills

The Head Gardener position is offering a highly competitive remuneration package for the successful candidate. This is a full-time, permanent position, working 40 hours per week.
