Barking and Dagenham Aquatics Club, based in London, is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Coach to lead our sports programme. The ideal candidate will possess strong coaching skills and a commitment to educating athletes, fostering their development both on and off the field. As the Head Coach, you will be responsible for creating a positive and competitive environment that encourages teamwork, discipline, and personal growth.

Working Hours – Expected 20 hours

Key Tasks:

  • Lead, manage and oversee the development and delivery of the overall swimming development pathway at the club.
  • Develop and implement training programmes that enhance athletes' skills and performance.
  • Conduct regular practice sessions, ensuring all athletes receive individual attention and guidance.
  • Educate athletes on game strategies, rules, and techniques to improve their understanding of the sport.
  • Foster a supportive team culture that promotes respect, inclusivity, and sportsmanship.
  • Monitor athletes' progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage continuous improvement.
  • Develop and mentor the club’s coaching staff to coordinate schedules, events, and competitions.
  • Maintain open communication with athletes, parents, and committee members regarding team goals and individual development plans.
  • Support and engage with the club committee in all aspects of the roles, including attending committee meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and organisational policies during training sessions and competitions.
  • Attend competitions, whilst providing support and guidance to swimmers

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in sports coaching, preferably at a competitive level.
  • Strong ability to educate athletes on techniques, strategies, and sportsmanship principles.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire swimmers, parents and coaches
  • Strong organisational skills to manage training schedules, team logistics, and event planning effectively.
  • A deep understanding of the sport being coached, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development in coaching practices.
  • First Aid certification is preferred but not essential; willingness to obtain certification is required.

Ideally, candidates should hold the ASA Level 3 Coaching Award/Swim England Senior Swimming Coach Certificate. We will consider applications from strong candidates who hold the Swimming Coach Certificate and are working towards the Senior Certificate
