The successful candidate will have experience at least at Sous Chef level in a seasonally high volume fresh food business. We are always looking for hands-on, passionate leaders to work with us to drive our exciting business into the future. We're passionate about growing our team's skills along with the business. The Chequers is a beautiful pub overlooking the river Avon on a National Trust walk. We pride ourselves on using fresh British produce; all our meals are cooked freshly on-site. While we are a very seasonal business with busy summers, we also have a healthy off-season trade with local clientele and guests enjoying activities on the river. We offer a large and diverse wine list with varieties from around the world, an extensive beer and spirit collection, and bespoke cocktail menus.

What we look for in a
Head Chef:

This role requires someone who can inspire and lead a team, develop, cost, and produce fresh seasonal menus for various revenue streams within the business.

  • Experience in championing excellent service through quality food, as Head Chef or Sous Chef
  • Passion for leading and developing a team
  • Hands-on team player with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage kitchen staff rota, training, and health & safety effectively
  • Creativity in designing and delivering new dishes and specials
  • Strong planning and organisational skills to maintain control over GP and labour
  • Pro-active in driving sales and growth through engagement with kitchen and front of house teams
