Job summary

Coast and Vale Learning Trust is seeking a Head Chef to lead the catering team across the Senior School, Prep School and Boarding House kitchens in Ipswich. The role focuses on delivering high-standard meals for pupils and staff, while managing daily lunch service and functions.

You will line manage Assistant Chefs, drive innovation in the department, and ensure consistent quality across all school dining facilities. A strong emphasis on hygiene, safety and event catering is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience leading catering teams in a school or similar environment.
• Ability to oversee multiple kitchen operations (Senior/Prep/Boarding).

Responsibilities

• Line manage Assistant Chefs and lead the catering team to ensure lunch service runs smoothly and on time.
• Oversee the Senior School kitchen and act as first point of contact for Prep School and Boarding House kitchens.
• Ensure all school functions and events are catered for, including sports teas.
• Provide agreed level of management cover in the absence of other Catering Management team members.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and comply with Health, Safety and Welfare policies.
