About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity that has arisen in the hospitality team at the University of Bath. We are recruiting for a talented Head Chef to lead the back of house in the Hospitality Team looking after the Lime Tree, Pavilion Café, and Sports Café.

These are three busy kitchens operating with a brigade of chefs, supported by Sous Chefs, Chef de Parties, and Commis Chefs.

The kitchens cater for the daily requirements of the university community as well as major events and sporting championships hosted by the Sports Training Village (STV).

The Lime Tree is a 500-seater restaurant boasting a pizza kitchen, hot counter, deli counter with freshly made salads, and a coffee bar open 7 days a week. The Sports Café is a 60-seater café serving the STV with a range of hot dishes, paninis, cooked breakfast, and hot drinks and smoothies, open 7 days a week. The Pavilion Café offers hot meals, toasted ciabattas, hot drinks, and provides food for a busy delivery service within the building.

About You
  • Have a passion for preparing, cooking, and serving high-standard nutritious food.
  • Have natural leadership qualities to lead the team and positively impact their growth and development.
  • Be financially astute, reviewing stock and recipes to ensure effective yield, waste control, and building efficient rotas to manage labour costs.
  • Demonstrate excellent understanding of food safety, maintaining and enhancing the food safety culture within the team.
  • Be a strong communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Be culturally aware and actively promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within the team and department.
Further Information

This role is offered on a full-time (36.5 hours per week), permanent basis with an expected start date of 1 August 2025.
