A lovely opportunity exists for a highly motivated Head Chef to lead and develop the culinary direction of a new pub in the East Sussex countryside. This role offers the chance to build a strong culinary identity in partnership with the owner. Although in the Sussex Downs, this pub is very well connected by train and road.

The Opportunity:

Lead the development of the food offering for a new dining venue with the potential to become a key destination in East Sussex. You will create the menu, establish kitchen standards, and work closely with the owner to achieve a shared vision for the restaurant's culinary success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the owner on all aspects of menu development and culinary direction.
  • Lead and manage the kitchen team to ensure high standards of food preparation and presentation for a new restaurant concept.
  • Source high-quality seasonal ingredients, ideally from local East Sussex producers.
  • Manage kitchen operations, including inventory and cost control for a new business.
  • Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Develop a positive and professional kitchen environment, mentoring a new team.
