Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to join the team at Barbican Centre.

The Barbican Kitchen is situated in the Barbican Estate, City of London. It operates year-round as a Café/Restaurant from 10 am to 8 pm, Monday to Sunday. The restaurant offers freshly made pizza, sandwiches, salads, and a selection of street food.

Shifts: 5 days out of 7, including weekends

Contract: Permanent

About the Head Chef role:

  • Plan, organize, and lead the kitchen team to deliver exceptional, fresh, and seasonal food to specifications, maintaining taste and quality standards
  • Drive sales and monitor costs through responsible ordering with quality and preferred suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, health and safety, and COSHH regulations
  • Manage rotas and scheduling according to business needs
  • Coach, train, and develop the team
  • Collaborate with the group Executive Chef on menu development

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Passionate about designing, creating, and delivering exceptional dishes
  • Experienced in high-volume kitchen operations
  • Commercially aware, understanding profit margins, purchasing, budgets, labor, and food costs
