Job summary

Barchester is seeking a Head Chef to lead a kitchen team within our care homes. You’ll develop menus focused on resident wellbeing, use fresh seasonal produce, and work with front-of-house teams to set up dining areas to a high standard.

You’ll mentor staff, manage budgets, and uphold HACCP/COSHH standards while ensuring a warm, welcoming environment for residents and guests. Training on IDDSI will be provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Personable and warm approach with wellbeing of residents.
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
• Experience in leading, motivating and inspiring a team.
• Experience with fresh seasonal food and nutrition.
• Knowledge of HACCP and COSHH.
• IDDSI framework familiarity or training to be provided.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and inspire a team, develop and upskill where required.
• Menu development, tailoring around residents to ensure we deliver person-centred hospitality.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked of the highest standards.
• Bake fresh cakes, scones and breads from scratch.
• Assist the front of house team with setting up of the dining areas.
• Work within budget, complete regular audits and stock control.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun environment.
• Ongoing recruitment and retention.
• Managing the performance of the kitchen team and front of house.
• Deliver hotel/restaurant standards with autonomy and ongoing team development.
