What does the job role involve?
- Coordinate all aspects of the kitchen to ensure food is prepared to the required standard and deadlines are met.
- Implement and supervise kitchen control measures such as menus, hygiene, health and safety, staff, cleaning, and waste management.
- Identify and recruit staff within your control following the guidelines.
- Supervise and develop staff members.
- Order catering supplies and manage stock levels.
- Ensure compliance with H.A.C.C.P. standards and proper documentation.
- Complete monthly kitchen audits and report findings to the home manager.
- Prepare menus considering content, balance, color, nutritional value, and budget.
- Consult regularly with residents to meet their needs and preferences.
- Prepare special diets as directed by nursing staff.
- Maintain deep cleaning schedules and carry out stock takes monthly.
- Implement a four-weekly rota and work within the budget guidelines.
- Assist with function menu planning and costing.
- Cooperate with the Home Manager and residents' requests.
- Attend resident and relative meetings when possible.
- Supervise staff according to home policies and conduct personal development reviews.
- Perform any other duties necessary for service delivery.
What makes a successful candidate:
- Previous Head Chef experience.
- Experience in a similar sector is advantageous.
- Team management skills.
- Knowledge of planning balanced menus and catering for dietary needs.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
- Engagement with residents' interests and supporting positive experiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What we offer:
- Full-time contract, 40 hours/week, including weekends.
- Pay rate: £15.50/hour.
- 28 days annual leave including bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time).
