Job description

Head Chef - 4-Star Hotel - Near Oxford

Location: Near Oxford

Position Type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £50,000 - £53,000 per annum + bonus + benefits (DOE)

About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen brigade at this 4-star hotel located just outside Oxford. This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate culinary professional who thrives in a fresh food environment and has a strong background in kitchen leadership.

As Head Chef, you will take full ownership of the kitchen operation, ensuring consistency in food quality, effective team leadership, and the creation of innovative, seasonal menus that reflect our commitment to excellence and local provenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, inspire, and manage a team of passionate chefs across all sections

  • Create, develop, and cost innovative seasonal menus using fresh, locally sourced ingredients

  • Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene (EHO and HACCP compliance)

  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen management including rota planning, stock control, and GP targets

  • Work closely with FOH and senior management to ensure seamless service delivery and guest satisfaction

  • Recruit, train, and mentor kitchen staff to maintain a motivated and high-performing team

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-quality fresh food kitchen, preferably within a 4-star hotel or similar

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive performance and lead by example

  • Sound knowledge of food cost control, stock management, and kitchen P&L

  • Creative flair and a passion for seasonal, British cuisine with a modern twist

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Relevant culinary qualifications and Food Safety Level 3 (minimum)
