Job summary

Leicester Grammar School Trust invites applications for the Head Chef role to elevate daily meals for pupils and staff. You will lead the catering team, oversee operations, and ensure a welcoming dining environment that reflects our Christian ethos of care and excellence.

Reporting to the Catering Manager, you will plan nutritious menus, monitor costs, manage stock, and uphold food safety and quality across all service areas, delivering high standards with consistency.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Food Production or equivalent.
• Food Hygiene certificate.
• Proven experience as a Chef in a busy customer-facing environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Financial awareness and numeracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to trends.

Responsibilities

• Support the Catering Manager in daily kitchen operations.
• Lead and inspire the catering team with clear direction.
• Plan menus balancing quality, nutrition and cost.
• Manage stock, food costs, margins and supplier orders.
• Oversee food preparation, service and kitchen cleanliness.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, allergens, and health & safety standards.
• Maintain high food quality and adapt menus to customer needs.
• Deliver efficient, timely service across catering areas.

What We’re Looking For
