Morgan Hunt is currently seeking a Head Chef for an NHS facility based in Central London.
Pay Rate: £22.30 per hour PAYE + £2.69 WTR, Total: £25.00 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours, 09:00 am to 05:00 pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Central London
Duration: 6 months ongoing contract
Suitable applicants must have:
- NVQ Level 2 Professional Cookery
- Level 3 qualification in supervising food safety or above
- Minimum 4 years' experience as a chef de Partie in a hotel, restaurant, or high-standard catering environment
Scope of the role
To lead in the production of high-quality meals and ensure efficient service to all customers, including patients and staff, during and outside meal service times. To manage the timely delivery of food production supporting retail, patient, and hospitality catering operations. To assist the Food Production Manager in maintaining quality, food safety, and compliance standards across the kitchen. To support the development of junior chefs and chef de parties.
Main duties and responsibilities
Food Production
- Manage daily kitchen operations and deputise for the Food Production Manager as required
- Lead all kitchen production activities for the trust
- Coordinate with the Food Production Manager regarding menu production needs
- Delegate patient meal production as needed
- Oversee cleaning audits and verification of kitchen equipment
- Taste and check all food before serving or dispatch, making corrections as necessary
- Manage meal production and bulk items according to specified recipes
- Assist in meal planning to meet specific dietary requirements
- Ensure safety, portion control, and high standards of meal presentation
- Lead on food presentation in line with catering standards
Operating Procedures
- Support and lead junior staff development
- Coordinate food service in Lagoon kitchen, liaising with main kitchen and catering supervisors
- Lead daily team briefings and resolve customer or parent complaints
- Contribute to seasonal menu creation and delivery
- Manage catering stock from delivery to dispatch, including storage
- Support food preparation for hospitality, meetings, and events
