Aramark UK is currently recruiting a Head Chef to join our team at Vimy Officers Mess, Catterick Garrison DL9 3LS. You will be responsible for kitchen operations, cost efficiency, and the production of innovative, quality food/menus within budget to improve sales. We focus on work-life balance while working in hospitality, cultivating your culinary career with a leading organization. Aramark provides contract catering services to clients across the UK, including Defence, Judicial, private industry, and Education sectors. We employ some of the best culinary and catering talent in the UK.

To be eligible, you must have been a UK resident for the past 3 years, have the legal right to work in the UK, and pass security vetting and DBS checks. Reliable transport is required due to the location and limited public transport options.

  • This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with one weekend in three. Shifts between 07:30 and 16:00, leaving evenings free.

A day in the life of a Head Chef:
  • Training and leading culinary staff, ensuring quality and standard food production techniques.
  • Identifying training needs, conducting training, maintaining staff records, and managing team performance.
  • Developing innovative, financially efficient solutions.
  • Building effective client and customer relationships, communicating culinary trends.
  • Empowering the team to deliver excellent customer service, investigating concerns, and taking corrective actions.
  • Ensuring compliance with operational standards, managing waste, menus, recipes, and ingredients.
  • Understanding supply chain and procurement processes, ensuring use of authorized suppliers.
You will be successful if you have:
  • NVQ Levels 1 & 2 in culinary skills.
  • Clean Enhanced DBS.
  • Experience in a similar defence environment.
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and a 'can-do' approach.
  • Lived in the UK for the past 3 years and have the legal right to work, with the ability to pass security vetting and DBS checks.
