About The Role

Cornerstone Healthcare is looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to join our award-winning team at The Burren. The Burren is a brand-new purpose-built service location South Bristol, providing high quality care & supporting residents with varying complex neurological, mental health & dementia care needs provided in a comfortable and safe living environment. Our approach focuses on individualised care, considering the whole person's unique strengths and challenges, rather than just the diagnosis.

What do you need?
  1. Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Chef
  2. Minimum of 2 years experience in a Care Home setting
  3. Understanding of COSHH, Food Hygiene and Regulations surrounding food safety
  4. IDDSI/Specialist diet provision experience (desirable)
  5. Experience working in a care home (desirable)
  6. Effective communication skills both written and verbal
What hours will you work?

4 shifts per week

Total hours per week: 40

Pay rate / Salary

GBP16.37ph / GBP34,049.60 per annum

What will you be doing?
  1. Responsible for running the Kitchen and line managing the Second Chef and 2 Kitchen Assistants
  2. Building and preparing menus and ensuring we are providing a good variety of meals, whilst ensuring dietary requirements are met
  3. Work within the services budget and utilize the most cost-effective solutions whilst not compromising on quality of food and service
  4. Ensure all working practice and the kitchen management is operating in line with Health & Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, Food Hygiene Standards and COSHH
  5. Ensure food is prepared in line with IDDSI guidelines and meets the requirements of the residents as identified by the clinical team
  6. Order food and manage orders to ensure there is sufficient stock
  7. Cooperate with the implementation, evaluation, orientation and induction of all new employees
  8. Manage the kitchen rota to ensure there is suitable cover at all times, whilst working in line with agreed staffing levels
  9. Attend regular site meetings and provide updates as and when required

About Us

Cornerstone Healthcare provide specialist care for vulnerable people who present with challenging behaviours associated with complex neurodegenerative and mental health needs.

Residents who live in our homes primarily have a neurological degenerative condition such as Dementia with an underlying mental health condition which makes them inappropriate candidates for dementia care homes or residential care homes for the elderly.

We currently have 3 services based in Waterlooville, Curdridge, & Mytchett with 2 new services set to open in Bristol and Birmingham in 2025.
