Job summary

Harbour Healthcare seeks a Head Chef for Bright Meadows Care Home in Bolton to manage kitchen operations, budgeting, menu planning, and staff supervision. The role involves preparing meals for residents with dietary considerations and maintaining high hygiene standards.

The position is full-time, 43 hours per week, including alternate weekends, with a starting rate of £15.27 per hour. Previous care setting experience and relevant catering qualifications are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing a kitchen within a care/home environment.
• Qualification(s) in catering and food safety/hygiene.
• Experience with ordering, budgeting, and menu planning.
• Ability to supervise staff and ensure quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead kitchen operations, including ordering supplies and menu planning.
• Prepare and serve meals respecting residents' dietary needs.
• Maintain food safety checks and hygiene records.
• Manage budgets and supervise kitchen staff.
• Coordinate with Activities Team for events and special occasions.
• Schedule rotas and oversee staff supervision.

£15.27 per hour

Full Time - 43h/week including alternate weekends

Essential experience:EHO and IDDSI, ordering, menu planning and budgets.

We are in search of a 'first class' Head Chefto join our team, full time, including some weekends. The successful candidate will have culinary and management experience, be responsible for kitchen functions including ordering supplies, preparation, and maintenance of quality standards, sanitation and cleanliness, and supervision of employees.

Duties and responsibilities (although this is not a definitive list):

• Support the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals and snacks throughout the day in line with our residents’ preferences and dietary needs e.g. diabetics, texture modified food, vegetarian
• Stock management and ordering supplies
• Menu planning
• Maintain food safety checks and records as per company requirements
• Ensure that you are aware of and adhere to company policy and procedures
• Follow Health and Safety procedures
• Ensure that all equipment and food service areas are kept clean and in excellent working condition
• Work alongside the Activities Team to cater for special events taking place within the home.
• Managing budgets
• Oversee and ensure that employee supervisions are completed on a timely basis
• Rota scheduling

Essential Characteristics:

• Previous experience of working in a care setting
• Qualification(s) in catering
• Qualification(s) in food safety/hygiene
