Job summary

Ashbourne Court Care Home is seeking a talented Head Chef to lead the kitchen for our elderly residents. You will run the kitchen, plan nourishing menus and ensure a high-quality meal experience, directly contributing to residents’ wellbeing.

This role requires experience in large-scale catering, people management and meeting dietary needs, with DBS clearance and flexibility for weekend shifts. Excellent induction and development opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Recent experience cooking for large numbers in a commercial setting.
• Previous management and motivation of a catering team.
• Experience providing food for people with special dietary requirements.
• Flexible, able to work alternate weekends.
• An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Run the nursing home's kitchen and oversee the residents' meal experience.
• Design a varied menu reflecting residents' tastes and nutritional needs.
• Ensure mealtimes are consistently high quality and food standards are maintained.
• Support, train and direct the kitchen team.
• Mentor staff on quality, safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Assist the General Manager with budgeting and resource management within the department.

Who We Are Looking For

• You should have recent experience of cooking for large numbers in a commercial setting.

How You'll Make a Difference

You'll be responsible for our residents' meal experience and running the nursing home's kitchen. Leading and supporting a team, you will:

• Designing a varied menu that reflects our residents' tastes and supports their nutritional needs.
• Ensuring mealtimes are always a high-quality experience.
• Maintaining the highest food standards.
• Supporting, training and directing the kitchen team
• Mentoring and motivating on quality, safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Assisting the General Manager in developing and managing the budgetary, human and material resources within the department.
