Job summary

Hamble Heights Care Home is seeking a talented Chef/Cook to run the kitchen for our elderly residents at Southampton. You will design and prepare a varied, nourishing menu, ensuring high-quality mealtimes and excellent food standards while leading the kitchen team.

Qualifications

• Recent experience cooking for large numbers in a commercial setting.
• Experience leading and motivating a catering team.
• Experience providing food for people with special dietary needs.
• Flexible, able to work alternate weekends.
• Enhanced DBS check required.

Responsibilities

• Design a varied menu that reflects residents' tastes and nutrition.
• Ensure mealtimes are a high-quality experience.
• Maintain the highest food standards.
• Support, train and direct the kitchen team.
• Mentor on quality, safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.

Who We Are Looking For

• You should have recent experience of cooking for large numbers in a commercial setting.
• You must have previously managed and motivated a catering team.
• You'll have experience of providing food for people with special dietary requirements.
• We'd like someone who is flexible, who can work alternate weekends.
• An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

How You'll Make a Difference

You'll be responsible for our residents' meal experience and running the nursing homes' kitchen. Leading and supporting a team, you will:

• Designing a varied menu that reflects our residents' tastes and supports their nutritional needs.
• Ensuring mealtimes are always a high-quality experience.
• Maintaining the highest food standards.
• Supporting, training and directing the kitchen team
• Mentoring and motivating on quality, safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Assisting the General Manager in developing and managing the budgetary, human and material resources within the department.
