Job Description

Position: Head Chef at Sodexo, Army HQ, Andover, Hampshire, SP11 8HT.

As a Head Chef at Sodexo, you will oversee culinary operations and manage the production of food and beverages for armed forces personnel. Your role is crucial in delivering high-quality meals that support operational success and boost morale.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and manage the culinary team, ensuring smooth daily operations and providing guidance to the kitchen staff.
  • Delegate responsibilities to sous chefs, commis chefs, chef de parties, and other team members to maintain efficiency.
  • Schedule shifts for your team, promoting a balanced work-life environment to sustain morale and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHO) guidelines and monitor sanitation practices.
  • Plan and execute menus with variety and quality, following military dining rotations.
  • Adjust menus as needed, optimizing stock use and minimizing waste.
  • Manage inventory and stock levels to meet Sodexo and client expectations for meal presentation.
  • Collaborate with Front of House management to enhance service quality and dining experience.
  • Train and develop your team, keeping them updated on client and Sodexo standards.
What You Bring
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience in high-volume kitchens.
  • Proficiency in IT, excellent communication skills, and experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Extensive knowledge of food production methods, focusing on consistency and quality.
  • Understanding of allergens and safety precautions for inclusive dining.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a focus on motivating and developing your team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
  • Ability to manage your performance and support colleagues.
  • Resilience under pressure, receptiveness to feedback, and a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage workload.
