Head Bartender - St Andrews

Seaton House, our new 5-star luxury hotel in St Andrews, is seeking a Head Bartender to join the team in our fabulous Bar and Restaurant. This crucial role ensures that all guests have their every need catered for when dining and relaxing in our restaurant or bar.

We are seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and dynamic bartender with a deep understanding of whisky and cocktails. The ideal candidate will possess a refined palate and exceptional bartending skills, along with a genuine passion for delivering world-class service in an upscale environment. You will be responsible for creating bespoke cocktails, offering whisky recommendations, and ensuring our guests enjoy an unforgettable bar experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and serve premium cocktails and beverages with an emphasis on whisky-based drinks.
  2. Provide knowledgeable whisky recommendations, guiding guests through our curated collection of fine whiskies.
  3. Craft tailored, signature cocktails that align with guest preferences and our luxury brand standards.
  4. Engage with guests to create memorable experiences, offering expert advice on cocktail and whisky pairings.
  5. Ensure all drinks are made to the highest standard of quality and presentation.
  6. Maintain an immaculate bar area, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and the proper storage of premium spirits and ingredients.
  7. Stay updated on the latest trends in mixology and whisky knowledge, bringing fresh ideas to the team.
  8. Uphold exceptional service standards, from cocktail preparation to guest interaction.
  9. Work collaboratively with the bar team and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  10. Manage inventory and ordering of supplies while maintaining stock levels for premium spirits.
  11. Handle cash and payment transactions accurately and professionally.
  12. Adhere to all health, safety, and licensing regulations.

Key Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as a bartender in a luxury, high-end bar, hotel, or restaurant environment.
  2. Extensive knowledge of whiskies, including different types, regions, and tasting notes.
  3. Expert knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, with the ability to create unique, bespoke drinks.
  4. Strong customer service skills with the ability to anticipate guest needs and provide an exceptional experience.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a polished and professional demeanor.
  6. Passion for mixology and fine spirits, with a continuous desire to learn and grow in the field.
  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  8. Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  9. Certification in bartending or hospitality is a plus.
