Job description

Are you a seasoned barista with a passion for speciality coffee, team leadership, and creating memorable customer experiences? Sacred Grounds, located in the heart of Soho, is looking for an experienced Head Barista to join and lead our dedicated team. We’re a coffeehouse rooted in community, inclusivity, and high standards, and we’re looking for someone who can embody those values in everything they do.

Responsibilities include:
  • Operate and maintain our high-end coffee equipment, including a La Marzocco KB90 machine and a Mahlkönig E80 Supreme grinder, ensuring consistent, top-quality speciality coffee.
  • Lead, inspire, and support our team of baristas, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and passion for coffee.
  • Oversee daily operations, including maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and customer service.
  • Work closely with management to develop and implement coffee-related initiatives, creating an unforgettable coffee experience that aligns with our brand.
  • Provide ongoing training, support, and mentorship to team members, ensuring consistent skills development and product knowledge.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, order supplies, and keep a well-organised stock system.
  • Ensure a warm, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere for both customers and staff, upholding the unique culture of Sacred Grounds.
About the Opportunity:

Joining Sacred Grounds as the Head Barista means becoming part of a coffeehouse that values community, inclusivity, and positive connections. We’re proud to cultivate a diverse, welcoming team where everyone feels at home.

This role offers a position either part-time at 30 hours per week or full-time at 37.5 hours per week. We’re open to flexible working arrangements, including four-day workweeks, to support individual lifestyles. Regular working hours are scheduled between 7:30am and 6:30pm, with occasional later shifts for events, and weekend availability is required.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Extensive experience as a barista, ideally in a speciality coffee setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and uplift team members.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multitasking with excellent attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills, creating positive interactions with customers.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, organised, and well-presented environment.
  • A passion for high-quality coffee and a genuine interest in contributing to a meaningful community space.
