Job summary

Roomzzz Spinningfields is launching a brand-new coffee house, Caffeine Addict, and is seeking a passionate Head Barista to lead daily operations, deliver exceptional coffee and deli-style food, and create a warm, welcoming guest experience.

As Head Barista you will supervise a team, train staff, manage rosters, stock and costs, maintain hygiene standards and help shape the guest journey with outstanding service and latte art.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' barista experience with strong coffee-making skills and latte art ability.
• Previous supervisory, team leader or assistant manager experience including people development.
• A genuine passion for coffee, beverages and delivering an excellent product.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills to build loyal customers.
• A Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate and strong food safety understanding.
• Experience with stock control, ordering, waste management and coordinating team rotas.
• Confidence using POS systems and handling customer payments.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing

As Head Barista, you'll take the lead in the day-to-day running of the coffee house, ensuring every guest enjoys excellent coffee, delicious deli-style food and a warm, welcoming experience.

• Lead and inspire the team: Supervise, motivate and develop our baristas and kitchen team, creating a positive and supportive working environment.
• Serve exceptional coffee: Prepare consistently high-quality coffee and beverages, demonstrating excellent barista skills and impressive latte art.
• Deliver outstanding service: Welcome guests, take orders, recommend menu items, accommodate dietary requirements and resolve customer queries professionally.
• Train and develop team members: Share your knowledge, coach colleagues and maintain consistently high standards across the team.
• Manage daily operations: Oversee opening and closing duties, coordinate team rotas and ensure the coffee house runs smoothly.
• Control stock and costs: Order and receive supplies, monitor inventory, manage stock levels and minimise food waste.
• Support our food offering: Assist with preparing and serving deli-style food and light bites, maintaining quality and presentation.
• Champion the brand: Build relationships with the local community, encourage loyalty scheme sign-ups, promote repeat business and support positive social media engagement.
• Maintain exceptional standards: Keep the coffee house and customer areas clean and organised, uphold food hygiene standards and follow all health and safety procedures.
• Take ownership: Monitor equipment, report faults promptly and work closely with management to continually improve the guest experience.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a confident, hands-on coffee professional who takes pride in their craft and knows how to bring out the best in others.

• At least 5 years' barista experience, with strong coffee-making skills and confident latte art ability.
• Previous experience at supervisory, team leader or assistant manager level, including managing and developing people.
• A genuine passion for coffee, beverages and delivering a consistently excellent product.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and create loyal customers.
• A Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate and a good understanding of food safety and health and safety requirements.
• Experience with stock control, ordering, waste management and coordinating team rotas.
• Confidence using POS systems and handling customer payments.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and good literacy and numeracy.
• The ability to stay calm, adaptable and solution-focused in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• A positive, approachable attitude, with the confidence to work independently and lead by example.
• A team-player mindset and enthusiasm for learning, sharing ideas and developing your skills.
