Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Applied Psychologist to join our new High Dependency Rehabilitation Unit. This 16-bed service is due to open in the Autumn, and will support patients for up to 12 months, providing specialist rehabilitation.

This post offers a great opportunity for an experienced psychologist whose core values are based on providing high quality recovery-focussed and trauma-informed psychological support, where the patient's voice is at the centre of all care.

As part of a multi-professional leadership team, the role requires a leader who is innovative and personally motivated to work with other senior clinicians and managers to deliver high quality care to people with complex mental health difficulties. The post-holder will be responsible for developing and clinically leading the psychological offer within the unit as well as supporting the broader strategic priorities for the service.

The role will involve direct clinical work with individuals experiencing severe and complex mental health problems for whom individualised and creative therapeutic approaches are key. You will work alongside 2 Assistant Psychologists and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).

CPD and engagement with our wider psychological professional networks is encouraged. The contributions of clinicians are valued and sought in influencing the direction of the service and leadership on relevant projects is encouraged.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be expected to have a creative approach to engagement and a focus on recovery will be an essential part of the role. The post holder will work directly with service users, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment, risk assessment and advice on risk management.

As a senior clinician in the team, a substantial part this role will also be service development, consultation, supervision and overseeing the quality of psychological practice. The post holder will be part of a wider team of psychological professionals working across the Acute Directorate.
