The Project Manager (HDD) role comes with a salary of �70,000 to �90,000, a bonus scheme, company car or car allowance, mileage and so much more!

Responsibilities and duties of the Project Manager role
Reporting to the Operations Director you will:
* Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of HDD operations across major infrastructure and tunnelling schemes
* Manage site teams, subcontractors, and specialist HDD operatives to ensure safe and efficient project execution
* Provide technical leadership during design development and pre-construction phases, ensuring constructability and value engineering
* Develop and manage detailed project programmes, risk registers, and method statements
* Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across all project activities
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Tier 1 contractor experience – essential
* Extensive HDD expertise – focused on major tunnelling and heavy civils (not minor utility crossings)
* Strong pre-contract experience – ideally with input into bid strategy and methodology
* Hands-on experience managing site teams, resources, plant, and subcontractors
* A relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering or construction (preferred)
Personal skills
The Project Manager role would suit someone who is:
* Technically confident in HDD – with hands-on experience managing complex directional drilling operations, particularly on large-scale infrastructure or tunnelling projects.
* From a Tier 1 or specialist contracting background – familiar with high standards of delivery and able to work effectively under demanding commercial and operational conditions.
* Detail-oriented and proactive – skilled at managing risk, maintaining control of budgets and programmes, and resolving challenges on site.
* Experienced in pre-contract phases – comfortable contributing to design development, programming, logistics, and early-stage planning.
* Flexible and mobile – willing to travel across the UK and stay away from home when required to support project delivery.
