Job summary

Lenovo is seeking a proactive PNC Service Engineer to oversee water treatment and quality compliance for mission-critical data center cooling systems. You will monitor secondary cooling water, ensure environmental standards, and support Direct Liquid Cooling implementations with Lenovo’s Solutions and Services Group.

Travel to customer sites up to 50% is required; full training provided; you will coordinate with vendors and Lenovo lab to diagnose issues and drive reliability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in water quality management or environmental compliance.
• Experience in data center cooling systems or HVAC water treatment.
• Knowledge of water chemistry for industrial cooling.
• Certifications such as Certified Water Technologist or OSHA 30 are a plus.
• Strong cross-functional coordination and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage chemical treatment for secondary cooling water systems (scale inhibition, corrosion control, biological growth prevention).
• Conduct quarterly sampling and field testing of water for biological growth; interpret results and take action to maintain compliance.
• Maintain proper water chemistry to ensure system longevity, performance, and energy efficiency.
• Establish third-party partnerships to provide global support for water quality and compliance efforts.
• Collaborate with Lenovo lab to monitor diagnostics and provide recommendations.
• Evaluate and optimize vendor performance for outsourced water treatment services.
• Understand DLC system components and assist in troubleshooting operational issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance such as fluid filter replacement as recommended.

Description and Requirements

Lenovo Hybrid Cloud Services (HCS) Professional Servicesteam is seeking a proactivePower and Cooling (PNC) Service Engineerto oversee water treatment and quality compliance for mission-critical data center secondary cooling water systems, which support Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) to high-performance servers!

This role ensures that all water used in cooling operations meets operational and environmental standards, driving optimal system efficiency and highest reliability. You will be a part of the Power and Cooling team of Lenovo’s Solutions and Services Group (SSG).

PNC Service Engineermust be knowledgeable in the operation of secondary cooling water systems that support DLC servers, with experience in the critical nature of the quality and compliance requirements of the cooling fluids. You will be trained on Lenovo methodologies and technologies and be expected to frequently travel to customer locations, handling multiple projects concurrently.

Full training will be provided to you, if you have the enthusiasm and drive to grow into the role as aPNC Service Engineer.

This role requires 50% travel.

Your responsibilities:

• As part of customer-managed services engagement, monitor and manage chemical treatment for secondary cooling water systems for scale inhibition, corrosion control, and biological growth prevention.
• Conduct quarterly sampling and field testing of water for biological growth, interpret results, and take appropriate action to maintain system compliance as needed.
• Maintain proper water chemistry to ensure system longevity and performance, energy efficiency, and environmental safety.
• Establish third-party partnerships with qualified vendors to provide global support for the water quality and compliance efforts.
• Liaise and work closely with Lenovo lab to effectively monitor and present diagnostics, including recommendations for resolving customer water quality
• Evaluate and optimize vendor performance for outsourced water treatment services.
• Comprehensive understanding of the fundamental cooling components of DLC systems and ability to help troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
• Perform other preventative maintenance activities, such as fluid filter replacement, as recommended by manufacturers and Lenovo consultants.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience of working in water quality management or environmental compliance, with additional experience in industrial or data center environments focused on cooling systems or HVAC water treatment.
• Competent knowledge of Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Water Resources, or a related field.
• Advantageous - certifications in Certified Water Technologist, OSHA 30, etc.
• High-performance computing systems knowledge
• Expertise in water chemistry for industrial cooling systems
• Familiarity with building management systems and water monitoring technologies.
• Ability to manage contractors and coordinate cross-functional team.
• Proven ability to work across a wide range of stakeholders and ability to drive issues to closure.
