  • Blood Testing: Full Blood Count, Coagulation Studies, Long Covid Testing, Sepsis Screening, Pre-Surgical Screening.
  • Biochemistry: General Biochemistry Panels, Haematology, Diabetic Panels, Bone Markers, Vitamins, Electrolytes, Thyroid, Kidney, Liver, Lipids, Iron, Inflammatory Markers, Tests.
  • STI Screening: HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Herpes, HPV, and more.
  • Virology: Including Monkeypox PCR testing.
  • Drug Screening: Comprehensive substance testing.

The Opportunity

We are urgently seeking an HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be a vital part of our laboratory operations, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and laboratory excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of blood, haematological, and biochemical samples.
  • Validate, interpret, and authorise laboratory results.
  • Monitor and maintain quality control procedures and documentation.
  • Perform daily maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment (e.g., haematology analysers, biochemistry analysers, immunochemistry analysers, microscopes, PCR equipment).
  • Prepare and process patient samples, ensuring proper sample integrity and quality standards.
  • Manage stock levels and liaise with senior staff regarding supply requirements.
  • Contribute to updating standard operating procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate actively in staff training, supervision, and professional development.
  • Handle urgent communications of critical results to clinical staff.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and laboratory best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the team to deliver fast, reliable, and quality diagnostic services.

Requirements

  • BSc/MSc in Biomedical Science (Essential).
  • HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist (Essential).
  • Minimum of 3 years' post-graduate experience in a medical laboratory/pathology setting (Essential).
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with key laboratory equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • UK Applicants only (Overseas applications will not be considered).

Working hours

  • Full-time position based on 40 hours per week minimum.
