MainDuties of the Job
ECGrecording
Routineand complex wound care, including compression dressings
Administrationof B12, Flu, Pneumonia, and Shingles vaccinations subject to PGD competency
Footpulse checks and physical health monitoring
Supportingpatients on the chronic disease register with health checks
Youwill also be expected to assist in maintaining clinical areas and ensureappropriate infection control measures are followed.

Job Description
The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will work as an integral part of the clinical team at Purbeck Health Centre, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-focused care. The role involves a wide range of clinical and support duties carried out under the supervision of the nursing team and in accordance with the individuals training and competency.
Key responsibilities include:
Undertaking new patient health checks
Supporting the Practice Nurse with health promotion activities and chronic disease clinics
Recording and performing ECGs as requested
Carrying out wound care, including routine and complex dressings such as compression bandaging
Administering vaccinations including B12, Flu, Pneumonia, and Shingles (subject to PGD and competency)
Conducting baseline observations including blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, temperature, and BMI
Facilitating routine and 24-hour blood pressure monitoring and advising patients accordingly
Performing foot pulse checks and general physical health assessments
Providing support for opportunistic and routine chronic disease health checks
Acting as a chaperone when required
Undertaking venepuncture (when trained)
Performing ear irrigation under supervision (once trained)
Preparing and recording specimens for laboratory transport
Carrying out infection control duties, including:
Cleaning clinical areas and fridges according to protocols
Ensuring clinical rooms are stocked and ready for use
Managing clinical waste and replacing sharps bins in line with IPC policy
Participating in audits, shared learning, and service improvement initiatives
Supporting practice opening and closing procedures in line with the duty rota
The post-holder is expected to work flexibly and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the clinical service at the practice.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Depending on experience£12.21 – £12.61 per hour (depending on experience)
