Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled HBM Machinist to operate and maintain Horizontal Boring Machines for precision machining of heavy components. The ideal candidate should be capable of interpreting engineering drawings, setting up machines, and performing machining operations to exact specifications while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate Horizontal Boring Machines (HBM) to perform boring, drilling, milling, and facing operations on large components.
Interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine appropriate machining operations.
Align and secure workpieces using jigs, fixtures, and clamps for accurate machining.
Select appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds based on the material and machining requirements.
Monitor machine operations, make adjustments as needed, and inspect finished parts to ensure dimensional accuracy using precision measuring instruments (vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.).
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machines to ensure smooth operation.
Maintain proper records of production logs, machine settings, and tool usage.
Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and operational guidelines.
Collaborate with the production and quality assurance teams to improve productivity and reduce rework.
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience operating HBM or similar large-format CNC/manual machines.
In-depth knowledge of HBM machining techniques and practices.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T symbols.
Familiarity with machine setup, alignment, and fixture techniques.
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
Understanding of cutting tool selection and machining parameters.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
